On Monday July 12th 2010 Hermann Lodge #268 held their last Communication. Dwindling and aging Membership are the cause. Age itself does not do harm to any organization, however when those members move to Florida for retirement, few active members remain to keep up the work.
Hermann Lodges last meeting was well attended by many visiting Brothers from the District. W.: Henry Shotwell opened the Lodge to conduct the remaining Business. R.W. Walter Fingerle, DDGM and R.W. Klaus Vogel, Grand Steward attended the meeting and presented special 50 year Service awards to some Brothers.
The Meeting was very emotional for the Brothers from Hermann Lodge, having decided to merge with Copernicus Lodge. Pictures were taken after the meeting.
The planned picnic did get a little set back with a heavy rainshower, however the food and cameraderie were very enjoyable.
While Hermann Lodge will soon only be in our History books, we still welcome their Brothers to our Whitestone Temple and our Lodges.
